Meet The Doctors
Dr. Robert M. Swan, DMD, MAGD
Dr. Swan is a
Portland native and attended the University of Maine at Orono, graduating with
high honors (Phi Beta Kappa) in 1968 with a major in zoology. Following
graduation from Tufts University School of Dental Medicine in 1972, Dr. Swan
served in the United States Navy Dental Corps as a General Dental Officer and
ended his tour as a Lt. Commander. In 1976, Dr. Swan opened his dental practice
in Yarmouth, Maine.
Dr. Swan is a member and past-president of the Greater Portland Dental Society and is a member of the Maine Dental Association and the American Dental Association. He is also a member of the Academy of General Dentistry and has served as president of the Maine Academy of General Dentistry. In 1983, he received a Fellowship from the AGD and in 1996 earned the AGD's prestigious Mastership Award. He is a founder and board member of the New England Masters Study Club, an organization dedicated to advanced continuing dental education.
Dr. Swan is active in the Yarmouth Lions club and Lions District 41L. His hobbies include Civil War re-enacting, travel and gardening. Dr. Swan and his wife Jean reside in Yarmouth and have three grown children: Kathryn, Carolyn, and Matthew.
